MP4 → MP3Video goes; only sound remains. A common request for meeting and lecture recordings.
MP4 → WEBMFor the web. Slightly smaller; older devices cannot open it.
MP4 → MKVNothing lost; only the container changes. Good for carrying several subtitles.

  • H.265 inside, on an old device — the mp4 is fine, the codec is missing
  • Truncated download — without the index (moov) at the end it cannot open
  • Variable frame rate confuses some editors
