Created by Adobe in 1993 and made an ISO standard (32000) in 2008. Its purpose is to look identical on every device, which is why it is used for contracts, invoices, papers and print — documents that must not change.

Quand vous le convertissez

PDF → DOCXPage layout mostly survives, but paragraph, table and header structure is reconstructed by guesswork. A scanned PDF has no text at all and needs OCR first.
PDF → JPGEach page becomes one picture. Text can no longer be selected or searched.
PDF → TXTOnly the words remain; layout, images and table lines are gone.

  • Truncated download — a file without %%EOF at the end is damaged
  • Not actually a PDF, just the extension
